Development: Academy
The CTFC Academy is a training group that aims to develop players to the highest level of football. As a club, we are very excited about the start of our Academy and feel very strongly about the high quality of programme we can deliver. Personally I am very excited about helping our club members develop and grow as footballers and as people.
Our Academy will be open to all players who want to improve as footballers, with tiers in each age group based on ability. On rare occasions where it is beneficial for the players development we will move a player up an age group.
The club has invested significantly in our facilities and we now have a world class sand-based grass pitch as well as changing rooms and community space at Garrick Park.
The top tier in each age group will be coached by me for one session per week, and we have a range of high quality coaches who will coach the other sessions and levels. We have some exciting external providers planned to cover such important topics as goal setting, sport psychology, speed training, life skills, injury prevention/recovery, nutrition, future pathways for players. We will continue to invest in our club and technology that will help improve our training programs.

However, national selectors will continue to select the best players available regardless of which programme they are in. You can see this for yourself by looking at any recent national under age teams and seeing how many players are coming from either private providers or club based programmes in the North Island.
We will run our own very successful CTFC elite camp in the January School holidays and also in the September (Term 3/4) Holidays. We remain committed to providing national exposure for our elite players through the top tier of the Napier City Rovers National Under 19 tournament, sending boys and girls teams to the Auckland City National Under 17 tournament.
We want to expand on this and continue to provide even more opportunities and exposure for Cashmere Technical players.
